Months before stepping aboard the Soggy McGee we were out for a walk in the wilds of Weetangera with the Atkins, when Paul mentioned he was thinking of rafting the Franklin as part of their upcoming Tasmanian adventure. ‘We’ve always wanted to do that’, fell out of my mouth before I’d thought it through.
The Franklin River has a thousand faces and low water levels bring out some of its prettiest features. Even with lower than average water levels, rafting is still a relatively easy way to experience the remote beauty and wilderness of South West Tasmania.
Quite low water for November in South West Tasmania. On our latest rafting trip down the Franklin River, we explored every ‘rock and cranny’ along the way. The long awaited rain came on the last night. Good times regardless, thanks to everyone involved.
A few impressions from our recent amazing 7-day Full River trip along the Franklin River. Great water levels, 6 days of sunshine and 1 day of rain … on our rest day at Newlands Cascades.
